The College Autism Network (CAN) is based at Vanderbilt University's Frist Center for Autism and Innovation. It emerged from recognition that, while the number of autistic students entering higher education is growing rapidly, campus support programmes vary widely in scope and evidence-base. CAN links the stakeholders shaping this landscape.
CAN maintains a searchable national database of autism-specific college support programmes (nearly 100 programmes and growing), publishes literature reviews and research briefs on accommodation practices, and disseminates evidence-based guidance for disability services offices working with autistic students. Resources address academic coaching, social support, sensory accommodations, and campus climate.
Autistic college students and prospective students evaluating campus support options; families comparing programmes; disability services professionals building or improving autism-specific services; and researchers studying autistic outcomes in higher education.
