by College Autism Network
The College Autism Network (CAN) was developed in collaboration with Vanderbilt University's Frist Center for Autism and Innovation. Its three-part mission — research, training, and advocacy — directly addresses the documented gap in institutional support for autistic students navigating higher education. CAN connects a broad community of stakeholders working to transform campuses into environments where neurodivergent learners can thrive.
CAN maintains a free searchable database of autism-specific college support programmes for prospective students and families. It provides professional development resources and real-world case studies for campus disability staff and faculty, administers the Autism-Inclusive Campus Designation, and hosts the annual College Autism Summit. It also offers a free online curriculum — Autism Career Empowerment (ACE) — for career services professionals supporting autistic students.
Autistic college students and their families researching campus support options, disability service professionals and academic administrators building more inclusive environments, and researchers or career counsellors working to improve neurodivergent outcomes in higher education.
