About this resource

About

Created through a collaboration between the UNC Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute and the Division for Early Childhood (DEC), CONNECT Modules are freely available online and use a unique 5-Step Learning Cycle™ to teach practitioners and faculty how to make evidence-based decisions when working with young children with disabilities in inclusive early childhood settings.

What It Does

Eight modules each address a discrete early intervention practice area: Embedded Interventions, Transition, Communication for Collaboration, Family-Professional Partnerships, Assistive Technology, Dialogic Reading, Tiered Instruction, and Foundations of Inclusion. Each module presents realistic practice dilemmas, research summaries, video examples, guided reflection, and downloadable practice guides. A free Foundations of Inclusion course and additional low-cost CEU-granting self-paced online courses are also available.

Who It Helps

Early intervention specialists, early childhood special educators, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, paraprofessionals, university faculty, and professional development coordinators working within birth-to-five systems. The Foundations of Inclusion module is openly available to anyone supporting a child with a disability in an inclusive setting.
