by U.S. Department of Education / CPIR
The Center for Parent Information and Resources (CPIR) is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and serves as the national hub for the network of Parent Training and Information (PTI) Centers and Community Parent Resource Centers (CPRCs). Every US state has at least one federally funded Parent Center whose job is to help families navigate disability services at no cost.
CPIR's website provides in-depth fact sheets and guides on every stage of early intervention and special education under IDEA — from understanding an IFSP to participating in IEP meetings to transitioning from early intervention (Part C) to preschool services (Part B). Resources are available in multiple languages and are updated to reflect current law, with high usefulness ratings from Parent Center staff across the country.
Serves families of children with disabilities from birth through age 26, particularly families new to the early intervention system who need clear, rights-based guidance. Also used by Parent Center staff, disability advocates, and professionals supporting families in navigating school and therapy systems.
