by disABLEDperson, Inc.
disABLEDperson, Inc. is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to reducing the high unemployment rate among people with disabilities. Its College Scholarship programme awards $2,000 per recipient twice a year — once in the fall semester cycle and once in the spring — to help offset the cost of higher education for students with disabilities.
Students apply online via the disABLEDperson.com website when competitions open (typically mid-December for spring and mid-August for fall). Applicants must be matriculated, attending at least half-time (minimum 6 credits for undergraduates), and US citizens or permanent residents. Winners verify disability and enrollment through their campus disability services department. The site also publishes a broader resource library on financial aid, employment, and assistive technology for people with disabilities.
Undergraduate and graduate students with any disability attending accredited US colleges or universities who demonstrate financial need and disability status. Part-time students whose reduced course load is due to their disability are also eligible.
