by Exceptional Lives
Exceptional Lives was founded by parents of children with disabilities who found the service navigation process overwhelming and inaccessible. With the mission "for families, by families," it translates complex federal and state disability systems into clear guides that empower parents to advocate effectively for their children.
The platform provides a searchable Disability Services Finder (English and Spanish) for localised provider lists, state-specific guides for navigating early intervention (birth–3) and preschool special education (3–5), plain-language articles on IEPs, IFSPs, eligibility criteria, and transition planning, plus a blog and podcast series. Users can take a brief quiz to receive a personalised list of local providers.
Primarily serves families of young children with developmental delays or newly diagnosed disabilities who are navigating early intervention and special education systems for the first time. Especially valuable for Spanish-speaking families and families in Louisiana and Massachusetts, where localised service finder tools are available.
