Founded in 1992, Family Voices is a national grassroots organisation rooted in the lived experience of families raising children with disabilities and special health care needs. With family partners in all 50 states and beyond, it centres family leadership and cultural diversity in all of its work and advocacy.
Family Voices supports a network of Family-to-Family Health Information Centers (F2Fs) — family-led organisations that provide free, peer-to-peer guidance on navigating health care, insurance coverage, early intervention, and systems of care for children with disabilities. Their website offers a "Find Help" directory to connect families to local family-led support groups, policy updates on Medicaid and CHIP, and resources on healthcare transition and early childhood screening. They actively advocate for policies that protect families under IDEA, Medicaid, and the ACA.
Families of children and youth (birth through 26) with special health care needs and disabilities — with particular emphasis on early childhood, medically complex children, and communities that are rural, culturally diverse, or historically underserved by mainstream disability services.
