Founded in 1975 in Toronto, Canada, by speech-language pathologist Ayala Hanen Manolson, The Hanen Centre has pioneered parent-implemented language intervention for over 50 years. Its programmes are grounded in research showing that children make the greatest communication gains when their primary caregivers learn responsive interaction strategies during everyday routines.
Hanen offers SLP-led parent training programmes including It Takes Two to Talk® (language delays), More Than Words® (autism), TalkAbility™ (verbal autistic children), and Target Word® (late talkers). Free online articles and tip sheets explain how to use meals, bath time, and play as language-building opportunities. Paid parent guidebooks and SLP certification courses are also available for professionals.
