The National Disability Center for Student Success (NDCSS) was established in August 2023 with a $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences. Based at the Centre for Research to Community Impact at UT Austin, NDCSS generates actionable research to advance how postsecondary institutions support students with disabilities from enrolment through graduation.
NDCSS publishes national reports on disabled college students' experiences — including the 2025 Student Access Report — and has developed the College Accessibility Measure (CAM), a comprehensive assessment tool that centres student perspectives. The Centre examines critical topics such as disability disclosure decisions, building peer and instructor networks, and leveraging institutional resources. Research findings are shared freely and are designed to be adopted directly by disability services offices, advisors, and institutional leaders.
College and university administrators, disability resource professionals, faculty, and policymakers — and disabled college students who benefit indirectly as institutions use NDCSS research to improve campus accessibility and support.
