About this resource

About

PACER Center's National Parent Center on Transition and Employment is a federally funded resource centre based in Minnesota that helps young people with disabilities and their families navigate the critical transition from secondary school to postsecondary life. PACER has been a trusted source for disability transition information for decades, with resources reaching families nationwide.

What It Does

PACER provides practical, accessible tools for IEP-to-college transition planning, including step-by-step guides on self-advocacy, understanding the differences between IDEA (high school) and ADA (college), accessing accommodations at postsecondary institutions, and exploring college and career options. Its free resource library includes fact sheets, toolkits, video stories, and webinar recordings covering employment, independent living, and postsecondary education. The centre also offers information in multiple languages.

Who It Helps

PACER's transition resources serve students with all disability types aged 14 through young adulthood, as well as parents, guardians, IEP team members, and educators who are supporting the transition from secondary school to college and careers.
