Ticket to Work is a free, voluntary programme offered by the Social Security Administration (SSA) to people who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. The programme removes key financial barriers to returning to work by protecting benefits during the transition period through Social Security Work Incentives.
Participants are matched with Employment Networks (ENs) or State Vocational Rehabilitation agencies that provide career counselling, job placement, skills training, and benefits counselling at no cost. The Choose Work website includes a service provider finder, a benefits estimator tool, and an extensive library of articles on work incentives. A free helpline is available Monday–Friday.
Adults aged 18–64 who currently receive SSDI or SSI disability benefits and want to explore employment, increase their earnings, or eventually become financially independent while managing their benefit transition carefully.
