Understood is a nonprofit whose mission is to support the 70 million people in the US with learning and thinking differences. The site was founded in 2014 by 15 nonprofit organisations and has grown into one of the most trusted free resources for families and educators navigating conditions like dyslexia, ADHD, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia.

What It Does

Understood offers thousands of expert-reviewed articles, interactive tools (including a learning differences screener, an IEP guide, and an accommodation finder), a podcast library, and a community forum. The site explains evaluations, IEPs, 504 plans, school rights, and how to talk to children about their differences. Content is available in English and Spanish.
